95 4x4 runner 3.4 swapped with the old 3.0 auto tranny question
Hi i have a chance to buy a 95 4runner 4x4 limited that has had a 3.4 swapped into it but retains the stock 3.0 auto tranny all custom wiring
My question is how would i be able to swap a 96+ a340 auto with case into it? other then the adapter plate/79-95 Manuel transfer case with gears dont know how well the old A340 will hold up to the 3.4..
I dont like how the 95 hydro cases cant be separated from the trans.
Ecu is a 98 Tacoma auto ecu.
Motor is a 98 3.4 Tacoma.
Swapping a A340h-90 to 95 to a A340 96-01 both transmissions have cases.
Supposedly somebody from this forum actually helped build the truck, its located in Oregon green and very clean lowish miles..
I'm a nube but i searched long and hard for the answer to this question
thanks.

it's actually simple.
i had the opposite done. i had a 340F swapped into my 90 4runner so i could get a marlin dual transfer case.
there was ONE major thing to be done.
read the write up that was done a month before i got mine done:

How are the 95 autos with the married transfer cases? the one ill be getting has been rebuilt less then 500 miles ago, also is it shim-able? makes it shift a little harder and increases the clutch life.. will be swapping to a A340f later done the road.
ryan
pretty sure any Manuel will hold up pretty good the 3.4 only has 40 bhp more then the 3 slow

wiring was mininal if any.
again it was straight forward other than the speed sensor drilling into a specific location...
one good thing about Toyota's ... they dont stray off. even wiring color codes? same...

the newer trannys are better read this.

you will need to get a gear drive top shift transfer case, rebuild it with a 23 spline input shaft and adapter.
i did the swap on my 88.
