95 4runner 3.slow no power

Ok heres another no power problem.
Engine has new h/g with New heads and cams, timing belt and pulleys etc...
also new cat.; new o2s (yes its a cali car) and new MAF.
Sometimes it just runs great and then something changes and it runs like its 1/2 dead. the plugs are dark and so its running rich but I cant get the ecu to turn the engine lite on to show any codes. Ive even unbolted my new cat to see if it went bad but no difference. Im sure I got the timing belt on perfectly but I might pull the cover off to check. about the only things I havent changes are the injectors and TPS. but if its running rich then it wouldnt be a lack of fuel via injectors or pump...??? The car had a burnt valve before i replaced the heads and it even ran better then than now. but if i get the ecu to reset it will run great until something elec changes the mixture... also hasnew plugs cap wires filters etc... starts and idles fine doesnt die even with a/c on ... just no power. compressions ok too; timings set to 10 or 12 etc...

I had the same issue with my 2.4 22rec. I changes to bosch plugs and wires, but went thru all of the connectors on the Mas air flow, etc and changed the water temp sensor for the ECU. Runs great now.

not necessarily.
but it only takes a feeler gauge set to check.

they can check ok cold but when the motor warms up they can tighten up. Just because you get a new or rebuilt head, it doesnt mean everything is the way it should be. I dont ever trust anyone elses work except for my own so I always double check those types of things when I buy parts

in particular, you can expect that if work was done to repair one valve, the others have been checked and lapped (at least) and this will affect clearances and consequently engine performance. but you said it has new heads, so by default everything has to be checked and adjusted when the engine has warmed up.

if i pull # 3 and/or #6 plug wires off the cap it doesnt make any change. and Ive checked for spark so thats fine. im guessing now that my injectors are bad or clogged; I have had rusty fuel line issues before. Im guessing that these 2 injectors are clogged and forceing the others to run richer and the o2s are reading the total output thus not knowing a problem. anyone have a source or good/cheap injectors? thoughts?

check your clearances before you go throwing parts at it. Always check the easy cheap stuff first

just pulled all the injectors and tested them with a 9v bat. and i got nothing from 3, 6 and the cold start. so Im guessing that the cleaning guys dont fix the bad ones. should i buy 2 new and clean the rest or just buy all new? Im wondering why I can get rebuilt ones for like $55??? compared with 120.

im thinking you should test them either with a multimeter. or with a 12 volt source..not 9v.....unless im mistaken

Im not a modern car expert but Ive read somewhere on here that 12v s will fry them. only use a 9v. the others check out ok with 9vs. besides the ones that dont check out are the same that didnt show any change with the plug wires removed etc... (I like small simple old cars! but want to love my 4runner if I can get it to run correctly!)

Ill have new injectors in in the morning.
if youre having the same prob just start pulling your plug wires off the cap;one at a time; to see if you notice any difference in idle. if 1 or more can be removed and you cant tell any difference then that cyl is not working; from either spark; fuel or valves etc...

I'm having lack of power from my 95 v6 4 runner. When I'm on interstate, I'm driving with the 16 wheelers as I can't go up a hill more than 50-55mph.

I've now replaced all new wires, plugs, cap, and new fuel filter... Still the same issue.

Please let us know! I did noticed fuel filter was quite dirty!!

Oh, I've also replaced and flushed out the auto tranny.
