Hi i'm not new to the toyota camp I have owned sevral mr2's but my first yota truck i had a buddy give me a 95 efi 3.0 my problem is cyl 5 misses now im now rookie i have a assosciates in applied auto sciences and im a grad of mercury U. that makes me a certified boat mechanic aswell here is my question i have done the standard ign tune up cap rotor wires plugs but still have a miss on that cyl. has anyone had a similiar situation im just tryin to short cut here i dont have a ton of time to work on this thing p.s. the only code im getting is 21 an according to my snap-on scanner thats only an O2 sensor not a reason for a miss thank you any help would be appreciated

the o2 could cause a misfire, but other things could as well such as head gasket (3.0's are notorious for head gasket problems to the point where Toyota issued a recall for it), dribbling injector, valve adjustments, all the normal things.

START WITH A COMPRESSION TEST ON THE 3.0, then you'll know if its internal= expensive

Yea I hear yea on the obvious stuff but i was un-aware of the common problems with the vehicle i.e. the head gasket problems see the guy who gave it to me said it started after he attempted to do the tune up himself thats when it started to mis so i made sure firing order was right etc.. next place i looked was injector i swapped 5 out for 3 still issue on the 5 cylinder which leads me to believe headgasket but i was hoping not lol but gut feelings suck sometimes and yes i agree an o2 can cause a mis but not to this extent lol

internal=expensive which = it was a free truck to me which = anyone need parts or another truck cheap lmao

TELL YA WHAT, you can fix it and sell it or part it out. what condition is it in? besides the missfire.

it has 205k on it but there is only a few small spots of cancer on it but if someone was looking for an interior the interior of this thing is i would say damn near show room aside from the mis it is a very nice and maintained truck the guy i got it from only ever had it serviced at the dealer and has all reciepts for it amazing that is to me lol

then take the time and do a compression test. if it comes up good, take it to a shop and get rid of the missfire and off you go.
