95 3.0 Misfire When Cold

Hoping someone can offer some suggestions here. 95 3.0 is having a pretty bad misfire when its cold (ie - when I start it in the morning, and after its sat for a few hours). It idles rough (and high - about 1700 rpm) when its doing this, and it hesitates when taking off, kind of like a bad TPS, but I've already checked that (and also unplugging it does not help). It is really hard to get rolling; gotta give it quite a bit of gas, and the clutch chatters TERRIBLY, as in shaking the whole truck.

Its not a misfire that you kind of hear sporadically, more like a constant pattern. Any idears? I've had the TB off, TPS has been checked, IACV valve is not stuck, and I don't appear to be losing any coolant, so hoping a HG isn't going bad and allowing some coolant to leak down into a cylinder when it sits for a while. Its been doing this for a few months and I haven't added a drop of coolant.

Also when it gets warmed up, say, after driving 5 or so miles, it runs perfect. Idles smooth as silk, accelerates without kicking, and no clutch chatter whatsoever.

Thanks for any help!

Spark plugs, wires, rotor, cap?

Isn't that normal for a 3.0? J/K! Have you done a cold compression test? Burnt exhaust valves? Leaking injector?

Start by pulling plug wires one at a time to identify the cylinder that's misfiring. Then put your timing light on that wire to see if the plug is firing. If the plug isn't firing, it could be spark plug (including gap), or plug wire. If the plug is firing you probably have an injector problem.

Unless you are misfiring on several different cylinders, it isn't the TPS or IACV or throttle body (those don't affect single cylinders). If you had a coolant leak of any size the cylinder would hydrolock (and that would be very bad). If you had a tiny coolant leak it would most likely miss once, clear out the coolant, and then run normally.

Air, fuel, spark. Do the easy tests first so you know which direction to go.

Thanks for the replies; will try those suggestions. I really don't think its the HG (fingers crossed); it does it for too long to be coolant in the cylinder.
