ive a 95 3.0 with an auto 4x4.

The truck always wants to idle high except after about 35 miles of driving. i think the coolants not flowing thru the valve as the hose is reletivly cold compared to the rest of the engine. ive had the tb off and check its not plugged. when i had the engine out i clean all the coolant lines of gunk before reassembly (although i do have to say their wasnt any gunk) ive spray the motor top to bottom with carb clean listening for it to rev for vacume leaks. so far none.
it just doesn't matter much, either it idles all day at 1000 or after a good drive it'll idle at 200 for about 3 min then creep back up after the heat soak dissapates. im about ready to add a small pump in the line to make shure it flows but i havn't found anything that small except old fuel pumps and i don't think they'll be up to the coolant.

any suggestions are appreiciated


Edit: the idle set screw is bottomed out and the throttle stop is just keeping it from sticking

Try sticking your thumb over the idle set screw to see if that changes anything. I've read several people mention that the O ring on the idle screw gets old and fails by letting vacuum in around the screw itself. Just one quick thing to check.

just rechecked and seal is good

Fixed.. apparently i missed some scale somewere during the rebuild and it clogged the steel line from the bypass hose.

note to self..check the basics 3 times. thanx guys

If you happen to see this post, could you tell me which way the plug-in side of the TPS is facing on your truck? It could either face the passenger side fender, or the driver's side.
I just bought my truck 2 months ago and I really have no clue what has been done to it through it's lifetime. I tried testing my TPS going by the directions on the 4crawler link, but I'm pretty much convinced that either there is a mistake in the directions on that site or my TPS is mounted wrong (spun 180 degrees). It says to get an ohm reading from the "bottom two terminals" on the TPS, but if it is mounted wrong then that is why I am getting the crazy numbers I am.
I tried asking this question yesterday in a thread I already have going but haven't gotten any replies.

my tps socket faces the pass. side towards the intake. make testing a pain. make shure youre using the diagram for the 3v as i think their 2 diffrent tps units.

next time i replace or set mine im flat out gonna take my tb off the truck takes 8 minutes and saves my sanity

Thanks for the reply. I didn't see anything specific really for the 3VZE besides the difference in feeler gauge thickness compared to the 22RE.
I will just keep poking around on the internet to see if I can find anything that will confirm what I am already believing to be true about the instructions on the 4crawler link I used to try and test mine. I use the other 2 terminals on the TPS and it seems to give me readings that are more in line to what they should be.
