94 pickup 2wd Motor Blown 22re, Important questions Need Knowledgeable people!

My 94 pickup 2 WHEEL DRIVE 22re Automatic finally blew up after 16 years. I have a lead on a replacement engine that supposedly has 30,000 miles on it. Probably going to check it out this weekend. This other Donor truck is an 89 4wheel drive 5 speed 22re, the frame is suppose to be really bad is why it's turning into a parts truck.

I'm currently in the process of pulling my old engine and transmission. I'm pulling the engine and AFM harness all together.

If everything checks out and I get this other truck, my first impression was I plan to use the rebult 89 engine out of the 4x4 with my auto transmission and my wiring harnesses. Does this idea jive?

What would I need to worry about? Are there any significant changes between 89-94? and engines with auto and manual? I hear the 2 wheel drives dont have a knock sensor? If this is the case the 4x4 motor probably has the provision for the knock sensor I doubt my harness has that provision.

What would you do?

I know they are basically the same engines but I'm wondering if my wiring harnesses/ECU/plugs on my harnesses will interchange with the 89 engine.

Any input is greatly appreciated. I really don't want to overlook something very important and end up screwing something up.

Reuse all of the efi parts off of your engine. Esentisly your only changing out the block and head.

what he said ^^^^

if the sensors don't match the plugs in your current harness, just swap out the sensors... you may have to swap out either the throttle body or the tps, if it doesn't plug into your harness.

if the injectors are the same, you won't even have to swap intake systems.

save the old harness, toyota wire is xlnt quality.

You will need to swap the oil pan and pick up tube when going from 4 wheel to 2 wheel. Are meaning to say the Injector harness instead of the AFM harness? When I pull a motor, I disconnect the Injector harness from the computer and pull it out with the motor.

Wow I haven't even thought about the oil pan and pickup tube yet. For AFM I meant Air Flow meter, Yes I'm doing the same thing regarding pulling the plugs from the computer and pulling it with the engine. Pulling the transmission too, they might be out of the truck tomorrow.

Thanks alot for bringing these things to my attention, I'll look into it. If you can think of anything else PLEASE let me know..
