Replacing parts like that is really expensive. And usually works about as well as it did for you.
Let's find out what's going on. Hook up your timing light and start it. The flashing tells you the #1 plug is firing. Does it stop all at once, before the engine dies? Does it keep flashing as the engine winds down?
Put your multimeter on the FP connector in the diagnostic connector. That shows voltage to the fuel pump. It should go to 12v as soon as you turn the key to start. Does it drop to 12v BEFORE the engine winds down?
Don't have these tools? Both of them together will cost you about $26. Which is much less than ANY ONE of the items you already replaced on the blind. But if you want to go with your uncle's advice instead, a new ECU is only about $1,050.00, IF you get it online. http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...rimLevel=18381

You're not "checking" the timing with the timing light. You're using it as an easy way to see if the plugs are firing. You want to know if the engine quits BECAUSE the plugs quit, or vice versa.
Same with the FP point. You want to know if the fuel pump stops running THEN the engine stops, or the engine stops pulling air and then the VAF shuts off the fuel pump.
If these two "pass," the next thing I'd do is put on a fuel pressure gauge. This is a little more involved, and you'd hate to go to all that trouble just to find out the fuel pump was losing 12v prematurely. But it will pick up a clogged fuel system.

After it shuts down, does it start right back up again and last another minute? Or does the time it stays on decrease the warmer the motor?
Just wondering.... b/c once the O2 sensor warms up, the ECU switches from open loop (based on fuel map) closed loop mode (adjusting based on AFR). 1 min seems like about the right amount of time for the O2 sensor to warm up.
That might help us know how to recommend where to look next.
Have you checked for check engine codes? Even if your CEL isn't always on there might be a few codes stored in there.
