94 4runner 3.0 4wd Auto; Rev limited / no power
Hi we have a 1994 4 runner 3.0 4wd Auto with no power on hills, does fine on flats. In neutral or park the engine hums, even close to the redline sound and feels fine. So we block the front tires, lift the rear wheels off the ground and put it in drive. Engine won't go over 3K RPM. So ..
1. There is a huge loss of power due to some binding friction in the drive train?
2. There is some ECU/sensor issue limiting the engine RPM?
3. it's just the 3.0 and do the engine swap already?
We have the standard not shifting into overdrive issues when cold sometimes,
We knocked out the cat honeycombs based on some earlier ideas about a plugged cat. new one is one order from Rock Auto.
No trouble codes. 250K total miles, 50K miles on rebuild, less than 30 on new heads. Stock all the way around.
We are going to try compression test and perhaps a dyno if I can swing it. But I would love some of you gurus to chime in.
