'94 3.0 Pickup Clutch Pedal Sticking

Hi, I recently had my clutch replaced by a mechanic, he also replaced my rear main seal. Now a couple months later, when I depress my clutch pedal to shift, if I was holding the pedal in for a little while (like at a red light about to turn green) the clutch pedal gets stuck at the bottom and I have to flick it up with my toe. There is also excessive free play after that happens. Any ideas? Please help.

Red face

Could be the clutch bracket broken.

Then that puts pressure on the Master Cylinder push rod causing it to hang up.

Dirt on the Front shaft of the transmission causing the clutch release bearing to hang up.

could also be either the master cylinder or the slave cylinder has rust or dirt.on the pistons .

For What ever reason some thing is hanging up

Something simple the clutch return spring fell off or broke.

The cross member is coming loose or the transmission mount is worn out or broke allowing things to move.

The clutch pedal shaft just might need some lube.

A few things to thing about.

^^ What he said

Also when I replaced my Master Clutch Cylinder, that was a symptom I was experiencing as well. Turned out the plastic part inside the metal cylinder on the plunger shaft was cracked, causing it to wedge the plunger rod / piston (whatever) of the master cylinder to catch against the grommet it fit through in the firewall..

I'd have someone depress the clutch while u inspect the slave cylinder action under the truck. Pulling the master just takes a few minutes to do and inspect also.

Hopefully that is it and it isn't something stuck up in the clutch area, yanking the transmission again would stink.

Hey at least your guy did the rear main while he was replacing the clutch. Mine didn't. I ended up having to go back in and do a freeze plug and rear main afterwards, myself..

Mine used to stick before the bracket fully failed on me. No fun when you're not close to home. Look under the dash!
