Unhappy 92 Toyota 4x4 truck rear axle slipping

I just bought a 92 Toyota 4x4 pick up truck that is 22RE w/manual transmission & lock out hubs. The truck has onlt 116,000 miles and the prior owner said it seemed the clutch was slipping so had a new clutch put in and it did the same thing.I drove the truck and it does NOT slip like a worn clutch but drives just fine and then when you are on the highway at ABOUT 50 to 60 and give it more gas it almost feels like the rear axle starts to slip at times and is a bit jerky but NOT like a slipping clutch. You do NOT loose power or traction but it just starts to skip or jerk a little but not real bad and the truck drives fine other than that. One more possibe clue to solving this problem is there is a whining sound comming from under the truck(possibly the rear axle) when letting off the gas in gear or giving it throttle and I checked the rear end for gear lube and it is full to the fill hole. Is it possible for the rear end to slip and "shutter" like this at highway speed but drive just fine slower? Also if the rear end is bad,I can change the entire axle drum to drum but should I unbolt the gear assembly and swap it out the front and is there any trick to that or do you just unbolt the bolts on the front pumpkin and pull it out and sawp it or do both drive axles have to be removed? One last thing is the speedometer stopped when the clutch was put in he said...is that just the speed sensor probably? Thank You SO Much for ANY help because this slipping problem has me scratching my head.

There is no grinding sounds that would make me think there are broken gears and it seems to surn smooth and not have alot of play like my 87 Yota with 230,000 miles.
