92 22RE Hard to Start After Rebuild
Ok I rebuilt top end and put it back together. Got it fired up. It ran on a Sunday and Monday it wouldnt hit a lick at all. So I pulled a plug and no fire. AM2 fuse was blown so I started testing coil, pick up in dist, went ahead and replaced cap/rotor button...still nothing. You could put a new AM2 fuse in it, have someone just turn the key to ACC and the fuse would smoke up and pop it. So I got a igniter off another truck and replaced fuse. It didnt blow on the ignition being turned and it started firing. It cranked after a few tries.
Now after all that it was still kinda hard to start. It will try to bust off but wont crank. You can smell the fuel so I think its getting plenty of fuel in the rail. You can let it sit and repeat process 3 or 4 times and it will finally crank. I tried checking to see if I had the injector wires wrong but they are all the same( black with red stripe & white with red stripe ). I read a forum on pirate4x4 I think that said something about yellow & white/red on 1&3 and yellow & blue on 2&4. Clearly I dont have those colors. Must have been pre 1992. Could I have injector wires backwards? What else could it be other than that or cold start injector?

Does it turn over very slowly? If it doea then you have the ignition timing off. Pull distributor and restab it correctly. I dont think you can get the injector wiring wrong. On mine the wires are only long enough to reach the correct injector. The
