91 4runner with r150f 5speed trans cricket noise

okay so i have read alot of forums and still havent found what i am looking for to answer my nightmare. I have a problem with my trans that just started recently. with it in nutral and my foot of the clutch it sounds like you are trying to put it in gear but its not very loud. if you engage the clutch it goes away left off the clutch it comes back. if you put it in 1st or reverse and start to move its like it creeps with the truck off in gear down hill but the truck is still running and i have the clutch engaged. i am not sure what it is. I think its the throw out bearing and this will be the second clutch kit in a year that i have been through and they are the same clutchs and kits so possible manufactur defect ( sorry for the bad spelling i am mad and trying to eat while typing). i have read on forums that its is the pilot bearing. have also read that its the throw out bearing. and have also read that it could be the imput shaft bearing. i am lost and dont have the money to take it to a trans shop i was laid off a week before christmas and havent found another job so things are tight but off that subject hopefully someone can help with my nightmare.

Anytime you do a clutch job it should be a standard practice to replace throwout bearing and pilot bearing.

Get the tranny jack ready....

Had the exact same cricket noise problem on my car.
Pulled out my hair but finally found it.

Had to grease the pivot point for the throw out fork. No joke . Drove me mental

As for the disengagement problem you might need to adjust the clutch pedal. There's a nut on the end of the clutch pedal rod.
Give it a shot

If the adjustment doesn't work (or is maxed out, or works for a short time) you need to check for a cracked clutch pedal bracket. It usually cracks way at the top and you might have to pull out the bracket to inspect. Ask me how I know...

How do you people hear crickets over mud tires and the radio?

Aisin clutch kits. Replace throwout and pilot bearing when doing a clutch and then the rear main seal if its never been touched.

Clutch pedal brackets are prone to failure but sounds like you have something awry like improper adjustment etc if you are eating up clutches.

DIY or paying a mechanic?
