91 4Runner question on engine swap or no?

I have a 91 4 Runner 4X4 with the engine pouring water out the tail pipe is it worth it to fix this engine or would I be better off putting a different engine in it?
A little back ground I have worked on cars all of my life mostly American, I swaped a 305/4L60E to a 350/4L80E in my pickup turned out pretty easey, but I don't know anything about the different engines available for the runner, the designations of the engines are greek to me. I have seen on you tube some guys putting Lexus engines in them but that seem expensive and I want to keep costs down and have a reliable runner out of it.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

From what ive seen on here, the easiest swap is the 3.4 5vze. will bolt up to the stock tranny and engine mounts. Just search on here, There is a ton of info in other threads about this subject. If you are sporting the 3.0 v6, I would definetaly yank that out. That engine is very expensive to rebuild.

Will be doin this swap myself in a few more months.
