Ok, so while I was cleaning my truck with a power washer I decided to take the sticker on the sides off (it was peeling and I never liked it anyway). That is when I discovered that there was a really well made double sided tape underneath, that is apparently immune to water in a pressures.. I was able to deactivate the glue on the outside with WD40, but I still still can't take it off. Now I need to take it off without ruining the paint underneath. Again, please forgive my stupidity.

blow dryer or heat gun on low and some goof off and a ton of time, work on your part....
and after 10 or 15 years on your truck the paint around the sticker will be faded compared to the paint under the sticker...

Thanks, that is still better than the idea I had before (involves partially illegal chemicals).

i used a heat gun and razor blade to pull the decals off. I then used a microfiber towel and watered down paint thinner to remove the glue. After all that did a compound buff and wax. Turned out pretty good I think. I did this to my old 91 single cab truck. Its sold now. Now Iam in an extended cab 92.

I've used those on dozens of vehicles, it works great. I think it is the only way to do it right, they are cheap too...Especially if you consider your time valuable.

Yea, the 3m eraser wheel works great! Don't be cheap and go for the $12 off brand wheel, I tried one of thoes, and it was a POS! $40 is a little spendy, but it is worth it to not screw up your paint!
