90' Toyota 4wd V6 - troublespots?

I have been reading the threads here and have a basic idea of what to look for, but wondering if there are any additional items that someone can tell me about.

I have found a local 1991 Land Cruiser I am very interested in for $3K, but I also have my eye on a nice 1990 Toyota extended cab truck with 172K. Its a 3.0L V6, automatic, SR5 model, loaded to the max. I have not seen any rust, but it has some dings/dents. Interior is nice, but the driver seat has some moderate wear. The dealer is asking $3900 for it.

I know some of these have HG issues- most replaced by the dealer, or has a warranty or some sort?

OR... should I just pass on this truck and go for the Land Cruiser? Its as nice (if not nicer), but has about 50K more miles...

Definitely go with the Land Cruiser. Not only does everyone and their brother own a pickup, the F series engines are much preferred to the 3VZ. Also, it will be a much cooler basis for an offroad truck/weekend warrior.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Oh, I been around. I ended up buying a Toyota Tundra 2000, but sold it a few months ago. To be honest, with a low paying job, it was draining my bank account pretty good and it was due for a $600 timing belt replacement.

I sold it and now I have a 1991 Lexus LS400 - (too reliable).

Oh, there is a local guy with a loaded 1995 4-Runner Limited that wants to trade, but I have not decided anything yet.
