90 4Runner

My 90 4Runner has a 3.0 auto with stock gears and 33's on it. I got two questions, should I lower my gears? Next my 4Runner has been sitting for a few months and I just started to drive it again but when I shift into 4X4, it will shift into it and then shift back out: the 4wd light will flicker on and off. Can anyone help me out?

i would say if its manual tranny gear to 4.88, if its auto 5.29. and i would check ur electrical that sounds like a bad or dirty connection to the transfer case causing it to do that, maybe not for sure.

I'm thinking more of a vacuum issue with the actuator. I had a similar issue, when it was covered with mud it worked fine, when clean it would shift in and out. turned out there was a small leak in the rubber line.
