89 Pickup Wont start
I had an electrical fire a couple of weekends ago. An alarm wire shorted to the brake pedal return spring.
After I fixed it, she ran fine except for when I turned on the lights or anything electrical, she would almost die, but idle came back up. I took it to autozone and got the alternator tested and is was putting out 38amps max, which is weak. Well I bought the alternator and an aftermarket tach.
I got the truck home and started installing the tach and she started up fine once with the tach installed. But ever since then she wont start and keeps blowing EFI fuses. I am getting spark, but I dont think I am getting fuel, the fuel pump isnt running and when I jumped the terminals in the diagnostic terminal the pump ran for a second and then the fuse blew.
I disconnected the tach and the truck still didnt start. So I know its not that cause its connected to the coil and the truck has spark.
The truck is in my hometown and I am going to work on it some more this weekend, and I think I found out the problem, the prev. owner wired up a switch to shut off the fuel pump and I think its shorted out.
I have 2 questions though, just in case thats not the problem:
1. Is there any other common problems that involve not starting?
2. Is there anything I should do while the whole interior is out ( I mean everything: carpet, seats, lower dash, ETC)?

Also, I ripped out the alarm cause the previous owner did it himself and did a crappy job. He stripped the wires and taped the alarm wires to the stripped wires. So I ripped it out and its a lot cleaner under there.
