89 long bed DLX reg. cab
I just recently bought my 89 truck and love it. I have noticed now that I have one, there arent many other regular cab long bed dlx's. anyone have any info/ other owners out there? All I see are xtra cab long beds. I appreciate your insight.

Long beds are awesome. I have seen a few around here. Its almost impossible to tell the difference between a regular and long bed at a quick glance, even after owning a single cab short box for 4 years, I still have to stare at them for a minute before I realize they are long beds
The only x-cab long bed Toyota made for the N/A market is, I believe, somewhere between '84 and '88 2wd.

Ok, I added four pics to my profile. Check them out and let me know what you think. I would have put them on here but I am working and dont feel like messing with that. I got my truck in april it had 132,000 miles on it.

I've got an '86 longbed. I think that they slowly phased out. You'll see a lot more early 80's lb 4x4's than late. I believe that 90 was the last year for the 4x4, but 4x2 continued up until the Tacoma. I haven't really done anything to build mine up yet, but something that I've been wondering is if the longer wheelbase is detrimental when it come to wheeling? The main reason that I got mine was because I'm 6'4" and I can much more comfortably sleep in the back. Anyway, nice looking truck.

Shortbeds aren't real trucks... Longbeds hold full sheets of plywood, drywall, most of my surfboards, has the length to accomodate a skip loader dumping a load of gravel or topsoil and can carry reasonably sized campers. Short bed campers are just ridiculously small! I do get tired on long trips in the regular cab and wish that I could recline my seat, but it is nice to wedge into a short parking spot. I can't say much about serious offroading and rock climbing, but my 91 4x4 longbed hauls huge loads over sand with some air let out of the tires. Cruised the beach (in two wheel drive while towing a 4m zodiac and 40 hp outboard with the shell on) right past a really expensive Landrover that was firmly stuck. Ha.

Oh yeah, If you are going to haul any real weight a pair of air cylinders to level your load are so worthwhile. Better handling, proper headlight angle and less chance of getting nabbed with that waaay overweight load are all benefits. One of the cheapest and easiest things to do to make your truck more useful on the road.

Dude, I don't think I could roll mine if I had to. No luck so far anyway, and that wasn't the only time I've come close. I can think of at least 3 or 4 others, no pics to prove it though(sorry).
And she is my daily driver by the way(not my ONLY driver, but the one I'd rather).

i love my longbed the space in the back is great. I can lay down perfect and sleep with like a foot to spare. i do feel packed in the single cab but it is a good trade for the extra bed length.

im not sure if i have a long bed or a short bed now...
but either way, it can fit 2 people comfortably in the back, and that's all im worried about, specially considering the carpet kit / camper shell is padded
