89 lift suggestions

I am considering buying an 89 runner I found for my wife. It is all original, unmolested, and rust free. I would like to put a 3" lift and 31's on it and need suggestions on lift recommendations. This will be my first IFS truck and I have never lifted one before. I have seen 3" kits on ebay with diff drops, bj spacers, and rear blocks for around $100. Are these any good?

for 31s, no lift. some came with 31 stock no lift. it's unnecessary and would only be for looks, higher center of gravity, and more wind resistance - save your money and put it toward something else that's more practical like preventative maintenance or perhaps a complete refresh of the suspension and steering parts so it drives nice and tight on the road. when you're ready to go above 31", then you can invest in lift and gears.

Good advice highonpottey. I bought the truck and have started maintenance on it already. Today I did plugs, cap, rotor, wires, tb clean, intake hose, lubed the chassis, replaces vac hoses, changed oil, and other little things. Next up is trans and transfer case fluid change, change the oil in the diffs, and put a radio in it. All in all the truck is in excellent shape. The paint on the frame is even still nice and shiny.
