'88 Yota runs terrible after it rains, but during the rain
I have a 1988 Toyota pickup. It has the 22re with a manual trans. For some reason after it rains and there is a lot of moisture in the air it won't idle correctly and I lose almost all throttle response. The truck will sputter badly if I try to drive it, even if I just barely give it any throttle. It only does it after it rains. It drives fine in the rain even if it is pouring down. Any tips or help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I've had a few cars with this problem... was always the fire side of the equation. When moisture gets everywhere a not so obvious break in a plug wire, cap, or coil now jumps all over the place. A good way to ffind this is to wait til night or park in a dark garage, get a cleaning type spray bottle with water, set to a heavy mist, start the vehicle up, spray mist from coil to plugs slowly, and if the spark is jumping you will get quite a good show.
