88 turns over wont start. no codes
the other day all i did was remove some fuses to try and clear my engine codes. now my 88 truck will turn over but wont start. i noticed that my check engine light does not turn on when the key is in the on position, so i think its an electrical issue. it has spark though. any clues? it flashed like 3 different codes before i broke the cel and now i don't know what to do. any suggestions?

In one of my earlier trucks i had . I added a hidden ignition kill switch.
In the steering column there is about 5 or 6 wires going to the key ignition. One of them when cut will allow the starter to turn over but the truck will not start.
Sounds very similar to your problem.. if that gives you a idea.

sounds like you are not getting fuel. check any fuel pump fuses; there is also a way in which to short the pump on, so if there is a electrical prob somewhere else leading to it, it will still pump fuel. could just be a short or cut somehwere in the wiring to it. last but not least, but least likely, is the pump itself.

Check +B in check connector for power when ignition is on. If no, check the EFI fuse in the fuse/relay block in engine compart, and check the IGN fuse (on my 89 that's in the driver's kick - but some things changed between 88 & 89). The EFI fuse should always be hot; IGN should be hot when ignition on. If both fuses are good & they're hot, it's probably a bad EFI relay. The IGN lead triggers the relay, and when relay is tripped it passes power from the EFI fuse to the ECU.
Spark means the coil + is getting power from the ignition switch. The igniter can make a spark using triggering input from the Hall sensor (signal coil) in the distrib - so the ecu is not necessary to make a spark (but if the ecu doesn't take over the spark won't advance).
Sounds like either EFI/IGN fuses or the EFI Main Relay most likely.
EDIT: From an 88 fsm it looks like both the EFI and IGN fuses as well as the Main Relay are all in drivers kick on the 88. Sorry 'bout that.
