88 Toyota puttering 4th gear
I have an 88 toyota truck with a 22r, on the way to work today about half way through my drive it starting puttering in 4th gear, low to middle of 4th gear, but didn't do it in any other gears and once i got higher in 4th it wouldn't do it. Where should i start with this problem? Any ideas? spark plugs, fuel filter?

Sounds like a fuel problem. Has it been hard starting? Like cranking longer than normal?
Pull the plugs and see if they are wet; if so, you are getting fuel just not a burn. Replace them if this is the case. If this does not fix it, then your fuel pump may be on the way out. This is what happened with mine (among dozens of other things).
Probably not a bad idea to replace the fuel filter anyway.
