Question 88 runner, help me make it poppin

*i got a oil leak, i thinks its out of the oil pan gasket... how involved is replacing that gasket?
*this lady loses enough brake fluid to turn the brake light on every two weeks or so.. were might the fluid be leaking from?

how involved is replacing the rear window motor? mine struggles to move at all..

the shocks are pretty beat does anybody have suggestions towards good value shocks? its a daily use care, it seems i have to downgrade tire size, i got a flat last night due to dryrot.. i think the smaller ones are 225/15/75r.
would still like to take it off roads n on the beach.. i wish i had the money to tackle hills like some of you guys..

-does anyone know how to access what looks like a spot for speakers within the bed walls? near or behind the rollbar.
-were can i get a new center console compartment? preferably one with a lock cause im cruisin without the top once summer hits

**any reccomended engine upgrades or accesories to add some power and/or gas mileage? its cloked at 80,000 miles..

thanks alot for all your help, rockon

try tighting oil pan bolts see if it helps.....its prolly leaking on one of the wheel cylinders look at the wheels and if theres wet streaks on them all round its that wheel or more...could also be leaking out the back of the master cyl.... replacing the rear window motor is not fun but not to difficult... take the 2 panels off and unbolt the motor... bolts come from bottom so i hope you hand is not to big cause you gotta get up under the window motor assembly to get the bolts fot the motor out.... OEM shocks i would recommend.....up to you some other my have a good idea for shocks but i would go OEM..... get some 31" 10.50's tires they are good average tires for 4x4 yotas plus they are good offroad and don't kill MPG too much....back speakers are near rollbar behind it i believe....look on ebay for console..... engine upgrades... i recommend full tune-up all OEM.... k&n air filter will help a good bit... synthetic oil too.... knock out your caddy converter for lil extra spike of power....

Factory tire size was 225/75r15. x2 on going with 31x10.5s. If you don't go OEM and want a cheap shock thats good for daily use, get a set of 4 Monroe Sensatracs for $200 (about $50 a piece) I ran those on all four corners on my '93 for 3 years, and my '88 4runner came with nearly new ones on already. They are decent for the price IMO.

unfortunately you probably split the oil pan gasket tightening it too much. I know on my pickup, it's only RTV on my oil pan, possibly the same with yours. you may be able to just drop the pan enough to clean the two surfaces, and run some RTV on it, and bolt it back up.

go to your local auto parts store and have them look up the rear window for you.

you can fit any seats you want with enough modifying.

thanks for the link about the window motor..saved to my fav's.

what is the little white box (about 1'' x 3/4'') that looks like it actuates the lock on the tailgate.

my lock doesn't move when the locks are activated / inactivated from the master switch.

had to disable a little sping thing to free up the lock so i could use the handle to open the door instead of doing it with my hand.

my 88 4runner that i just got has a working window* (*clicks and sputters) the guy showed me that it works but it was clicking so much and he was pulling the window up with his hand, so i think this is bad. i ordered a replacement from EBAY ($30) but am not quite sure where to start to diagnose what is wrong.

is the window supposed to be functional without the top on?? I am waiting for an owner's manual to come in the mail since i know it will answer some of my questions.

i dunno if you'll be able to get to that gasket easily. It usually means dropping the entire front drivetrain to get it out. You said its blowing white smoke? How bad? Does it smell sweet at all? Make sure your oil has no antifreeze in it, and vice versa

the the differential is right under the pan.... it my be hard to drop it more than a few inches without dropping the diff.... try some oil seal repair i used Lucas stop leak in one of old trucks and it helped quite a bit but it may not.... yes there is a specail motor for the rear go to your parts store they got it... toyota truck/4runner seats should be interchangeable through the years 84-95 check junk yards and or ebay....
