88 p/u 4X4 fuel filter issues.
hey i have an 88 p/u 3vz-e 4X4 and it is time to change the fuel filter. i went to go change it but the fittings looked and felt as though they were corroded on. i finally got them off and noticed that there was not rust on the threads or inside the filter threading. I tried to put a new filter in and the same thing happened it was impossible to thread in.............. is this a common issue? am i doing something wrong? or could it possibly be cause by the 2 threading not quite matching up? and most importantly shouldn’t it thread together quite easily?
sorry for the noob question but i couldn’t seem to find a thread discussing this issue.
thanks.

I found it to be a PITA it that I ended up wearign about a quart of gasoline & didn't have flare nut wrenches, but other than that, didn't have any issues with the fittings. What brand filter did you use? How did the threads inside the fittings look?

Those are banjo bolts with a tappered fitting. It is suppose to get tighter as you thread them in. Also, you must use copper crush washers on the banjo fitting. Sometimes you can get away with reusing the old ones, but if your going to the dealer...get new ones.
