874runners Engine rebuild with pics galore!

So, my runner has around 400,000 KM right now...
She runs great, burns a bit of oil.. everytime i change the plugs they look pretty nasty... so ive been wanting to rebuild the engine or a engine with my time off school. anywho, i picked up this little gem last week off my one buddy!(thanks mike)

I have around 3 months starting now to get it done, not to much of a rush but should be a fun project.
If the engine checks out fine, plan to bore it .20 over, see how the crank is and go from there.
For parts, i feel like a lce engine rebuild kit is in order and a engnbldr head with oversized valves should do the trick.
Not to sure what else at the moment but im sure its going to add up fast.

I should be adding pictures every couple days or so.

Alright a little update, with work and rear axle bearings i havent had much time to tear apart the engine, got the VC off and noticed something weird with the rocker arms and cam lobes.

drivers side guide still looks intact!

I am with IAMSUPERBLEEDER I just went from this

Bored .20 over ,aline bored , all surfaces checked and milled as needed

to this in about 1 1/2 months

I went the opposite direction as you with a L.C.E. Head and engnbldr Master install kit with new water pump and headbolts as well.

Well now that you have a couple examples of what can be done I am going to be very interested in seeing what you come up with, also just want to drop a little hint to ya Marlin Crawler HD 1200 lb clutch works real nice hint hint. Also the engnbldr 268 cam really works great as well hint hint.

I have the first 335 miles on it now with a SUPRA AFM on it to help that head breath better and it runs like a raped ape with 35's & 5.29's I can run 75-80 mph really easy but 5th gear is still a dropper on hills but it is what it is and not a v8 lol.

the cam looks different on those 2 also....is it possible they don't function? or hardly at all? yeah seems screwy they would replace all but 2.

i'm signing in too....i'm miles behind BLEEDER and OLHARLEY but I will get there!

i'd say, while you have it out and accessible, replace the timing chain and guides...looks like the driver's side is plastic (see my mess and BLEEDER's mess) but your's is intact and no scoring on your cover......but....just do it.
