87' Runner.. front driveline stays locked?
Hello all...
Just picked up an 87' runner.. 22re.
I swear on the one I had years ago.. with the 4wd disengaged I should be able to turn the front driveline by hand?? *CV's will obviously turn by hand*
With the hubs unlocked and the t case in H2 I am not able to turn the front driveline by hand and it's got me a bit concerned...
Sorry for the newb question. Thanks for any advice.

You are correct, if the hubs are unlocked (actually, even if only one is unlocked) and the tcase is in H2, you should be able to turn the front drive shaft by hand, and one or both of the CV shafts should turn. Sounds like the tcase isn't disengaging, or both hubs are stuck in the locked state. Jack up the front end and see what happens when you try to turn the front wheels. Also, have a friend watch the front drive shaft from the side as you drive slowly in H2 and see if it turns. It shouldn't.

went to a buddies place... he grabbed the line and turned it like it was nothing
Must have been a case of the new buy jitters i guess... We went out and ran it through the numbers and everything with the truck was golden. Totally stoked.
Thanks for getting back to me!
