87 Rear Tailgate Wiring
Can anyone point me to a wiring diagram for an 87 4runner that shows the wire colors (main color and stripes). I've looked in the FSM and nothing (at least with wire colors). Situation is the rear window will not operate from the key on the rear door (works OK from the front switch), and the rear wiper also does not work. And I've noticed that a PO has opened up the wiring harness that goes to the rear door, and several wires are cut, with sections missing. Unfortunately the remains are too faded to be able to see colors/stripes so I can know which wires go where. I was hoping if I could get a diagram/chart that told me which color wires are which back there, I could figure out how to reattach them. TIA

Deejay..
Never did get a wiring diagram. What I ended up doing was just stripping back the cut wires far enough so that I could see the color coding, then match colors at each end of the cut. Had to piece in quite a few lengths. Back door is not working fine from key or inside. Window doesn't quite close all the way, but I think that is due to some worn teeth on the gear in the window actuator.

The relays in the rear window relay box are probably bad. This is a common problem but it can be fixed by replacing the relays in the box. You can buy new relays for less than twenty dollars and replace them. A new relay box would cost over $400. dollars.
I did this on my 86 4Runner and it was easy. Do a search and you will find the information you need here.
