87' 4Runner radio wiring help.
I am a new member and i'm in the process of cleaning up a mess of an installation that was made by another person when i had the stock radio replaced with a CD Player. The harness got cut and trashed, and everything was just spliced by being twisted and electrical taped. The ground came undone about a year ago and took my blinkers with it, but i got them back now. I went and put female disconnects on the wires in the dash and the male disconnects on the radio wires so i all i need to do its attach them (should work and be safer than what was there)
Now that i have it all cleaned up and ready to be connected to the the new CD Player I need to know which wires go to what...i have no clue.
I have a pictures with labels that hopefully will help. If anything, how can i figure out what each one is on my own?
Thanks much

I have a Haynes manual but I can't seem to find anything about the radio wiring anywhere, but if its there then I'm missing it and need to look harder.
and it's a 1987 4Runner.

Thanks for the info, but it doesn't really help. I was looking in the manual and i found that (apparently) the red/black wire and the green wire (not light green) go to the radio and the others are for speakers, ect.
So out of the red/black/ and green wire, one must be the power and the other one is something else, not related to speakers.

And after looking at this....
1987 Toyota 4Runner Car Audio Wiring Diagram
Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Blue/Yellow or Blue/Black
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Gray
Car Radio Ground Wire: Brown
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Green
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Pink
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Purple
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Black
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Red
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): White
Out of the two wires mentioned in the Manual, the green one must the the illumination and the red/black the power. and i guess the brown wire is the ground....so that leaves the speaker wires to figure out then right?
:edit: The blue/yellow might be the power too so i need to find out which is which out of the two. How do i tell?

OK, i think i got most of the wires figured out, the only thing left to do is figure out which wire is the main power, the red/black wire or the blue/yellow wire. And what the one that isn't the power, what it does.

I just did this 2 days ago.
Here you go,
Wiring info, look at the 87 and newer.

I only used pin A-G, I believe our power antenna is a red/green stripe wire
I double checked all the info in this chart with a meter and it all worked. You can use a small 12V test light to double check the power wires.

This is an 8 year old thread, it isn't likely that you'll get a response form the original poster (OP). Do yourself a favor and don't cut the vehicle wiring harness to install an aftermarket stereo, just spend a few bucks and get the installation harness that plugs into the vehicle harness. Then you can make all of your splices on a workbench and plug it in. Also don't use crimp type butt connectors, do it right with solder and heat shrink.

In case this would help... found online...
