Welcome to Yotatech.
A 4banger will have a "header". I have LC engineering.
For mods to do, try the search function and do some reading. Lots to choose from depending on what you want to do.

cheap. good. fast.
if you want "cheap" and "good" it will not be "fast".

same goes for Quality, Cheap, Service although its the same concept.
If you want quality parts cheap, you will not have good service
If you want quality parts with good service, its not cheap
If want cheap parts and good service, they won't be high quality.
Its a saying that for some reason, many people have forgotten.

Cheapest headers ive seen looking for some for my truck are Pacesetter's they range from 100-200 bucks but you get what you pay for, I would save up and get some lc engineering ones they seem to be the way to go, heres a pic of the Pacesetters

Of course, sometimes I just sell off other truck parts to make up the difference too!!

Indeed! I trying to convince myself to sell my pickup so I can get the Downey header and exhaust system as well as a set of lift springs and aux fuel tank from them. That would just about finish the 4runner so I can start wheeling and camping again.
edit. Doing some looking and got a price list together, it's more than I thought it would be.
Header-400$
Exhaust-400$
Rear springs- 220$
Shocks- 200$
Aux tank-540$
BJ spacers-120$
Wow. 1880$??

Yup, sounds right. Aux tank? Really? Why not mod your bumper to hold twin jerry cans. That's ten gallons for a fraction of an aux tank. Have you gone thru the classifieds for ball joint spacers? I'd do the shocks, springs and ball joint spacers first. I wheeled my truck hard long before header and exhaust. Heck, glasspack it for now just to ditch the stock exhaust!!

I do need to put things in priority. I still wheel the rig almost every weekend but am limited by how far I can go sicne the suspension is old and worn out.

The Aux tank is going in so I can remove the factory tank, that thing is a freaking rock anchor. Then I can use the space provided by removing the factory tank (and the skid plate) to put in the on board air. I have a plan, it just requires money.

As far as cheap power goes, OP, take valve cover off and paint it "go fast green" or "Hemi Orange" or "Rally Red."

That'll never work. He needs to pull the valve cover and have Chuck Norris' face engraved in it. I'll bet it gains like a million hp and it'll never ever die.
