I believe it is a 15 gallon tank.

Mine is 15.2, but its an 86 and not a turbo. I don't know if there was a difference.

don't believe the gauge, I don't think I've ever seen an accurate one from the 80's. Mine says I can make 100 miles on the first 1/4 tank then the next 100 miles only leaves me with 1/4 tank left. I thought my owner's manual said it was 16 gallons, "reserve" included

Sorry guys, but 15.2 is wrong.

They had 17.2 gallon tanks.

Mine is about the same level of retarded. It stays on full for 70 miles then drops to half, stays there for about 50 miles then works like it should. All I care about is knowing when I'm about to be walking so its alright.

my 88's "you're low fool" light comes on and I can go about 30 more miles after it does... and takes about 16 to fill up when that light first comes on so I'd lean towards the 17ish range.

slightly off topic, but I've never seen the low fuel idiot light come on. I did swap to the SR5 cluster, so would the non SR5 not have the switch in the tank?

I have a 1988 pickup 2wd that came with the standard instrument cluster. Last year I put in a SR5 cluster from a 1989 4Runner.

Both have a low fuel level warning light. On both clusters the fuel level needed to be really low before the light would come on.

Before I put the SR5 cluster in I made sure all the bulbs were good.

When I was testing the SR5 cluster I drove around and around with the needle on empty. Then I went behind a store with a loading dock. As soon as the truck was on an angle the light came on, and I took this picture. It is the red light that looks like a fuel pump.
