Hey everyone,
So I was reading up in my FSM to gear up for doing an AC conversion and it says when you remove the compressor to refill it with 100cc's of DensoOil 6 or Suniso No. 5 GS but since I'm converting to 134a i'll be using PAG46... no big deal...

but whats confusing me is that it says when you remove the condenser to add 50cc's of oil to the COMPRESSOR, add 20cc's to the COMPRESSOR if the receiver/drier is replaced, and add 40-50cc's to the COMPRESSOR if the evaporator is replaced.

Am I really supposed to add this much oil to my compressor or do I absolutely need a way to fill the system with oil as I'm recharging with freon? I plan on removing just about everything, flushing, replace orings, etc...

I wonder how possible it is to flush all (any?) oil out of the compressor. Getting it out of the rest of the components (with the expansion valve removed and replaced with new) was not too difficult.

TSB AC002-98 http://tms.cleanautoalliance.org/documents/ac002t98.pdf says you don't have to worry about that, though. Except that it will render your sight glass useless (the mixture of PAG-46 and mineral oil will look like bubbles).

The TSB also says to use 100cc of oil. 1/2 goes into the receiver dryer, the other 1/2 goes in with the R134a.

In my case, I had to replace the compressor. I didn't have to flush it (it was new), and it came pre-charged with the right quantity of oil.

Scope thank you so much for the link! Everything I read says draining the oil is enough and not to flush the compressor. Were you able to flush the condenser as well?
