First post here... Have had my little 86 since high school (1990)... first vehicle... and I'm 40 now! lol uhg... Been a great little truck! 237k miles so far.. On with the question!

Just was thinking of getting some cap clamps for a cheap aluminum cap I saw out in a yard and purchased... size is right, but I forgot something.... this 86 has what I believe was called an Import Bed? The bed "flange?" goes to the outside of the bed and not the inside... how am I going to clamp this cap down when I want to use it in the winter to haul my dogs? I'm thinking maybe just have to drill some holes and bolt 'er down.... didn't know if there was a special clamp I could find?

It would depend just where the cap lines up .

Drilling and bolting might be the only way

It might be possible to make some brackets that attach to both the cap and the inside of the truck bed allowing you to just clamp it on when needed.

It might be just easier to bolt it

bolting it seems like the easiest route since most likely your cap is the size of the OD of the bed. perhaps use something like "J-bolts" so they can't be spun from the outside by a thief since they'll be trapped in the channel and the nuts are inside.

Thanks for the info... I will give bolts a try when I get around to setting it up... I appreciate everyone's time....

PS.. doubt anyone wants to steal this cap! lol Maybe an aluminum scrap dealer... lol Prolly worth more in scrap than the $25 I paid. ;-)
