86 4runner Carburetor problem?
hey guys i just regsitered tot his thread becuz i just bought an 86 4runner 4x4 with the 22r motor but its carburetor not fuel injected....the problem is after about 11 miles of driving it, it starts to die out, and you gotta wait a few hours before u can start it up and drive it again...it still needs some work but why is it doing thatt? could it be running too lean?? this is my first carburetor experience....o and when it starts to die out, u can still start it but you cant drive it and it sounds really bad and sounds as if the engine is louder and high ideling....
please help it would be appreciated.

Welcome to yotatech.
next time this happens unscrew the gas cap and see if you hear it release presure, the gas tank is vented through the gas cap and vapor canister under the hood and if there not working properly vacuum presure will build up in the gas tank and the engine won`t get any fuel until the presure evens out again. That kind of sounds like the problem your having.
