86 4runner 22re spark plug threads pulled out

So today I was driving my 4runner with the 22re it started running rough and got really loud so I shut it off and looked under the hood and the number 4 spark plug was blown out of the head I tried to reinstall the plug but it won't tighten down idk what caused the plug to blow out has anybody seem that before and is there a way to repair the head to put the plug back in
Thanks

You can get a spark plug helicoil kit, but personally I don't trust them. It's just a steel adaptor that's inner diameter is threaded to fit a spark plug and it's outer diameter is larger than the factory plug hole in the head. I've done it to a 22re before and it worked but it wasn't a great long term fix. I'd just buy a new head and swap that in, they go for $350 from engnbldr. Do it the right way and you'll never have to worry about it again.

Red face

Just which cylinder is it ??

It might just be a burr on the threads from the plug being loose.

You might want to try a thread chaser and see what happens.

Doing a thread Insert repair with the head on the engine is a major pain pulling the head off and putting it back on takes some time.

I don`t think the threads are stripped I think the plug just vibrated loose and put a burr on the lip of the threads.

I agree with Wyoming9. I hope it is not the #4 cylinder!, which it probably is. A thread chaser is your best 1st option, helicoil 2nd and new head 3rd. Remember, when taking the head off and back on again there are about $100.00 of gaskets and sealants that also need to be purchased.
