86 22re rebuild dilemma
i recently pruchased a pickup,86,from a guy i know. it was just collecting dust in his garage,he started to tear down the motor himself for a rebuild but never finished. i bought it in hopes of finishing it and having a nice yota for myself on the weekends (89 yota pickup daily driver) only one big problem,he didnt label anything. bolts and hoses and all the little things are just in a pan, intake and exhaust manifold are removed, wiring harness is all unhooked. i have no idea where to begin. would it be easier to try and rebuild this or purchase a new motor all together? this would be my first rebuild mind you,so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Well first off take pics of the bolts and post them that would be the easiest way to help you figure out what go's where, this way someone can copy your picture and use paint or something to label them and re-post so you can look at them and see what is what.

I would still do the rebuild. Hoses are easy, diagrams of routing are on here in several threads. When going back together, just take your time and don't force a bolt if it stops. Check depth on water pump bolts before going together, the length matters. Maybe there is a member of YT in your area that can give you a hand, where are you from?

Rebuild that thing man! It can be done. Everything you need is on here. I would buy a haynes manual or download a FSM though. Read every build thread you find! I recommend superbleeders personally.

I would definately download the FSM from the link on this site. It saved my life. You might also try to sweet talk someone from a Toyota Dealer Parts Department into printing out some diagrams for you. A couple close to me have done so for me and it helped me find out what a cold start injector banjo bolt looked like! Stay in it.

x2 i agree. if you can post some pics i know we could all help you out by identifying things. Do check out superbleeders rebuild it is vary detailed. I personally know the 22er well so it should be easier than it look. believe me when I say the 22er really only look scarier than it is.
