85 RV air conditioning> 88 4runner retrofit.

A buddy of mine just purchased a 88 4runner with almost no rust but a blown engine. He has great plans for it and is awaiting approval for his account so he can post photos of the build. We were at LKQ poking around and came across a 91k 85 RV auto with A/C.
we started pulling the engine and A/C today but ran out of time and must go back tomorrow in the rain to finish up. The condenser and evap cores are larger than the stock Toyota ones and I can only assume the compressor is different too. Other than the cores and compressor and A/C control in the dash, what else will we need for the swap? I only assume the harness too but I do not know if the needed wiring is included in the harness of a non A/C 4runner.

We will be posting mad photos of the build up as he is going loco on it and does not plan to ever buy another truck, He is just waiting for approval to post on the boards.

the truck when he got it:

I dont know if larger evaproator would fit in stock ac box.I would get the ac box too.I would also think it would have a different fan to run more air across the condensor too for the increased cooling.

I already grabbed the evap, condenser, fan and box, I am going to grab the rest of the A/C setup tomorrow when we finish pulling the donor motor.
The interior is a (tiny) bit different than the 4runner so I plan on getting all the vent tubes and the box that houses the heater core also.
My biggest worry is that the evap is rotten an I won't be able to find another one. And, secondly, the wiring harness and fusebox on the 4runner not having provisions for adding the A/C. Or, if it does not, the 85 harness having compatibility problems with the 88 4runner.

This is the owner of the 4runner, Just got my account activated and found some internet.

Yoyo and I threw the new (kinda) engine in no problem and she started up no problem! Decided to wait on the a/c though. Wont really need it for awhile here in Michigan and plus I have a few more important things I need to do first, just ordered a rebuilt transmission from marlin today. when I do end up tackling the a/c project Ill be sure to let you guys know how it goes.

Peace
-Bo
