5 speed rear seal--part #?---

My 4Runner has a 22re/w56 combo. The transfer case has had a lot of wobble on the output shaft for some time. I got another but it was a forward shift and mine is a top shift. I took them apart and swapped the parts to the new transfer case. I figured I would replace the seal in the back of the transmission while it was out. No biggie, I went to Auto zone and the seal they have is different. So was Advance and Orielly. I even mic'd the seal and went through every seal at auto zone and advance and found one that was about 1/10 larger on the inside opening. To much IMO. I tried to contact Marlin but have not heard back yet. Does anyone have the correct part number for this? I'm stumped on this. I can't seem to find the right one any where.

Thanks, I brought my FSM with me and showed that diagram when I tried to get the seal. I think the local auto parts stores just have the incorrect part # for that seal. I'm going to call a Toyota dealership to get to get it. I just found it strange that all of the local parts places brought me the wrong seal?

Red face

Local parts stores can only go by what information the magic box tells them.

Case in point I swapped a Chevy Radiator into a 87 4Runner I go in with the Radiator cap I say I want a cap like this Now She says what is it out of I think just go get the cap. I say it is a Chevy Radiator in a 87Runner.

She goes It is a 4 Runner I say yes and she just brings me the wrong cap Then tells me I must have the wrong cap.

Is it possible to have blond roots come out dark??

You just can't always trust what their computer("magic box")says is right.

I replaced a rear axleshaft seal on an F-150(Ford 9")for my neighbor just yesterday. Carquest gave him the wrong seal and the wrong fill capacity for the gear oil in it. Had to go to NAPA for the right seal and an extra quart of 75W-140 to get the job done. Good thing NAPA had the right seal atleast. Those are the only 2 autoparts stores in the podunk town I live in. Would've had to drive 15+ miles to the next town over if they hadn't had it.

That's just the way it goes sometimes, or dare I say, most of the time.
