4x4 conversion 4runner

Hey, I attempted to do a search but all I found was info on doing a swap with a pickup. Now I have a 6 lug 2wd 93 4runner, my buddy just blew the engine on his 95 4x4 4runner. He is thinking about selling it real cheap to me. I was wondering would all the 4x4 parts (axles, t-case, trans etc.) bolt on to my 2wd? Or would it be an issue where I would need to weld, swap ecu's, and more of a wiring issue?

Your IFS is probably a little different, cause you don't have CVs in there. What does the 2WD tranny look like without the t case?

X2. If your dead set on converting though, keep digging through the searches. There's been a couple done and documented on here.

it can be done, but it'll take work. I only know of 2wd truck conversions though, so idk. you have to check your power steering gearbox, mainly. if the 4runner is six lug, that changes a lot of things. then I think you would need to change your spindles instead of your whole IFS, but dont quote me on it.

quit being lazy and SEARCH I typed in 2wd conversion and there are 7 pages of results did you go through all 7 pages and see what applied to you?
not all of them are going to be a good link but I found many on the first 3 pages that apply to what you want or close to it. HINT "cost of"

call the dealer and ask them talk to the parts guy I have called and had them compare part numbers before between different years to see if something from one truck will work on mine.

the cheapest thing you can do and least time consuming would be swap motors and the inside.

other wise you will have to remove the tranny and front end and bolt and maybe weld all that crap under your truck if you do not like the body on the 95 swap body's I think there are only 12 bolts holding the body to the frame but you might still have to swap the wire harness and pull most of the interior to get to the body mounts.

take your truck over to your friends house and crawl under his truck and yours and compare the two make sure the cross member is the same or at least has the bolt holes on yours to fit the one form his.
do this for everything.
