4WD Help!!

I recently replaced my intake plentum gasket and pulled all the vacuum hoses off and put it back together and everything worked fine... except now I get no 4wd light on the dash or actual 4wd when I shift into 4hi or 4lo . Before I did the gasket I was only getting the 4wd light on when I put it into 4hi and when it was in 4lo the light would go away but it would still work??? The weird thing is when I shift it, I can hear something electronically hooking up when I shift it into 4 wheel drive but I dont get the 4wd. Has anyone ran into an issue like this. I am wondering if it is a vacuum issue or if a solenoid went out? I would say I am a pretty decent mechanic but when it comes to vacuum and 4wd mechanical issues, it gets a little grey for me. Any help would be appreciated.

start with vacuum to the two valves on the passenger side fire wall. it u have vacuum there then see that it switched when put in 4wd. the vsv2 and vsv4 are what control it to be in 4 or 2wd. here is the manual of how to fix and read the 4wd system.

I will give that a shot. I also noticed that on the passenger fender about mid-way down there is a spot for 2 vacuum hoses and only one is there. Any thoughts on this being an issue? I doesn't look like anything has ever been connected there.

the only thing that is plugged off is the vacuum going from the manifold to the pcv. The hose that was on there was as hard as concrete and it broke so I blocked it off for now. But it seems like i must have an emissions line mixed up for a vsv line or vacuum tank line. What do you think?

it just seems weird that every 2nd gen I see pics of the vacuum lines and they all seem different. I need to figure where the open nipple on the passenger fender is supposed to be hooked up. I think that is where the issue lies. That would provide actual vacuum to the tank and possibly actuate the solenoids so it would work. Any thoughts?

one thing i noticed is that u have a "T" in the line from the finder to the vsv.pull that "T" out and hook the one that's coming from motor into the one that's missing and then u should get better suction on the 4wd system.

I got it working! I had the line coming from the manifold going to an egr valve. Switched it and now 4wd works! One more question, the light is on in 4wd hi but when I go to 4lo it goes away. Is this normal?

no it should be on in both low and high, it sounds like the hi lo position sending unit is bad, the one on the transfer case.
