I've got the exact same issue the OP describes.
I'm new to brakes though, the only thing I've done is bleed them. Is there another name for a brake caliper? I'm looking at the FSM, and I think they call it a brake cylinder?
Would you just replace the whole thing (keep the old pads for consistency with other side)?

Replace in pairs always. New pads always. I got a few sets form pepboys, they suck and always crap out. I got a set from napa that were more money but came powdercoated (pepboys and the like come uncoated and RUST) and are much nicer rebuilds.
Very easy to do, I wouldnt spend my coin on brand new toyota parts unless you want to spend 500+ dollars.
Its easy. You remove the two bolts that hold the caliper on, push it out of the way and support it somehow. Bolt on new one and take the line off and put it on new, then bleed.
