I'm going to close it by moving the back window forward and putting a sheet metal wall under it. I MIGHT try to get the window to move up and down, but I'm pretty sure I have enough work as it is, and the wheel wells seem like they'll get in the way.

By the way, does yours just not have seatbelts in the back? Not sure what I'm going to do about that. Find lap belts I guess.
Only issue is that you cant roll thge window all the way down cause the fenders ae in the way. could always use a sliding glass like in the trucks! Ive seen that before. Or a lift up glass!

Mine doesnt have seat belts yet. Im gonna tie it into the cage I build eventualy. I thought about welding a long piece of steel down the body inside near were the old bolt hole used to be for the belt to distribute the load down the body and weld a bung on for a new bolt to go if that makes sence!

A long time back I saw a 2nd Gen 4Runner chop where they grafted the back of a similar year pickup. Looked great, sealed up the cab and allowed the glass to operate.

If any one has some pics or the thread I recall that would be great.

It really doest hurt much of the interior nor get it too wet. I left mine open and its poured so many times. It will be a bit chilly but thats what the heater is for

Could the back of a first gen runner cut to fit be a close enough match? Just a thought........

Possibly or you could build your old top to be removable. It would be heavy though and alot of work. I think the 4runner tops off older ones are too skinny and would look funny!

Made some more progress this weekend.

Got the back window frame welded on, relocated all the wiring in the back and cut some patterns out for filling in the bed holes.

Does anyone know what the green wire that crosses the bed does, or the blue cable that goes back from the left rear speaker? I left the green one disconnected, and my left blinker doesn't change pace when I hit the brakes anymore haha...

Yeah, but is the blue just a ground? It's only on that one side...It's not a big deal, I just have to extend it to reach to where the new speaker location is.

I think I'm just going to leave the green one disconnected...

I believe the blue would be hot with stereo on.

the green should be hot for all the marker / taillights
