4runner cant hold idle and dies

Hey all, I have a 1995 4runner v6 4wd. Yesterday i went to warm it up and i noticed after the truck was warmed up it had a tough time holding its idle. The truck woudl sputter and fart around 500 to 300 rpm. After driving it around town i notcied that it was lacking its already crummy power, all the windows and electronices were running dimmer and slower and at stop lights it would try and stall out on me. Any ideas or lists of things i can start looking at would be of great help, thanks.

Battery or charging system. If everything that is electrical is running slower I would see how much of a charge your alternator is putting out. Most tire shops should check your system for free. See if your alternator is putting out the charge it should be, and then check your battery.

Also, unplug the vacuum line going to the top of your EGR & see if that solves the problem. If so, your vacuum modulator valve is bad:

He is talking about the throttle position sensor. If you look at the back side of the throttle body you will see a black round sensor with a plug on it.

4crawler has a good write up on how to adjust the sensor. web site is 4crawler.com

Give it a try
