4Runner - 5.29`s & 32`s messing with the Auto Tranny?

Hi, Just got a 4runner with an auto tranny on it and apparently the guy says he had the gears swapped out with 5.29`s. I haven't jacked up the truck and checked for my self yet but when im going down the highway at "70" my GPS is saying 55. Leads me to believe the guy is telling the truth.
Now with the issues im having. The OD wont turn on... Not to worried about that. The truck seems pretty gutless (even compared to other 4 runners ive had) for how well the engine is running. When im going along it seems top have a hard time with the gear its in unless I got the ECT set to PWR and even then it has a hard time with the higher gears with any kind of incline. Im thinking the ECT is thinking that its going 70`s so it puts it into 5th when it REALLY should be in 4th @ 55(True speed).

I get what you're saying, but I'm not exactly sure what your question is?

Question has to do with the auto tranny never wanting to be in the right gear. It will rev hard in 3-4th going up a hill then drop into the next gear idle down way low then drop back to the previous gear where it revs too high changes gear then repeat.... Wondering if this has to do with the gears being 5.29s with 32inch tire.... ECT thinks its 70 so it shifts into a high gear, when the truck starts bogging it lowers the gear but its the wrong gear..... something to that effect.

Well it being a 4sp would explain a bit. It would seem as if I need to change the shifting points some how? any way of doing this? I got every thing for a 5sp swap but I was saving the tranny to rebuild and throw into my lifted pickup.

probably is a way to change the points but not worth the work. do a five speed swap, gonna be worth it
but then youll need bigger tires for those 529s.. thats not a bad thing

Okay back at it again with a tiny bit more information (not much mind you) Seems my hunch isnt too far off I replaced the bulb in my OD indicator so I can pull some codes and I am getting a code 42 - "Defective #1 speed sensor(in combination meter) -severd wireing harness or short." Kind of gose along with my orignal theroy of the speed being off with the ECT and thus tossing strange shift points. I cant seem to find a wireing diagram for this year. Really wish I could because there are alot of lose wires but thats a whole nother story. Any feed back?

The fact that its an 85 makes it just a tiny bit more difficult to pull up info on it seeing that they only did the solid axle and EFI for one year... the next yer they upgraded lot of the electrical and such. I really appreciate all your help and have been combing through all the info I possibly can. I find it hard to bealive im the only one that has had this issue.
Having 5.29`s and 32inch tires is causing the speed sensor 1 to display the wrong speed is causeing my rig to behave badly (and not in a good way). Big issue im having with this is I go up a moutian evey day for school and its not going to be long before it ends up harming something. Any way to adjust the speed sensor or put a resistor some where to fool the truck?
