4cyl 6cyl rear drums

Is there a difference between the 4 and 6 cyl rear drum brakes?

I have a 4 cyl 89 4runner. Can I swap in 6cyl rear brakes without problems or a master swap?

There's no difference between 4cyl and V6 drum brakes.

However, there's a difference in brake shoes between some PUs and 4Runners. All the 4Runner brake shoes that I've ever seen were wider than the ones I've found on PUs. That doesn't mean that you couldn't use either one, all the other parts are the same. In fact I've been using the wider "4Runner" brake shoes on my PU for many years now. But there's obviously no point in using the skinnier shoes if the shoes on yours are the wider ones(which they should be, since it's a 4Runner).

So the real question is...are they 4Runner or PU V6 brakes you want to swap in?

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it's not a problem.
