3VZE Yosemite Wish I had More Power pics

WEll went to yosemite with the family and took the 88 4runner with the 3vze, its a 4 hour drive one way from my home , truck ran fine no problems except for not having enough power to climb. No wheeling just checking out the scenery and trying to learning to ski.

Wasnt really comfortable with the down shifting upshifting and reving of the truck while climbing .
I will be adding some toyota 4:88 to this thing if that doesnt help I am going to look into swapping the lexus v8.

here are a few pics .

Beautiful scenery, beautiful truck! I was planning on 33/10.50s, and seeing your truck further solidified that plan..12.50s just look too wide for my tastes. Did you make the roof rack? I really like that.

Very nice truck! But do yourself a favor and re-gear to 5.29's. Its the only way to go with the autotragic.

Well I just might do that, I have a set of thirds with 4:88 I was going to put in this truck . I might just sell them to my neighbor and get the 5:29's ,Maybe.
Also scratch what I posted about the lexus V8 Its seems to be a very Difficult swap if you want to keep an auto , Which I do.
Sorry about posting one right after another , I dont Know how to quote 2 or 3 quotes in one post.

To multi-quote, click the little icon to the right of the quote icon on each post you want to quote. Once you selected every post you want to quote, click the quote button on the last post that you selected. They will appear in a new post box in the order you selected

Edit. I guess I shouldn't say "little" icon...its just the icon directly to the right of the quote one.

If your neighbor doesn't want them, I'll work something out with you. I'm in Reno, not that far.
I got an auto also. Don't know if I want to keep it though with an engine swap (future plan like you to swap, 4.3 Chevy).

Nice looking Runner. Is that original paint? I'm thinking no, looks too good, no fading, etc.
Great pics of scenery and family. Looks like a fun time.

It is the original paint, that picture makes the truck look really good , i guess its the shadow ,lighting, angle.I washed it the day before also.
The trucks hood and upper part of the camper are faded , there is plently of scratches and dents on both sides of this truck.
Something funny is happening with the clear coat under the drivers side door handle also its coming off and bubbling , cracking.

Im asure the 4.88's would be an improvement, but the gears you want is 5.29's. Those autos have a crazy high OD gear, but you need a v8 to actually get to speed..

5.29's A lexus v8 would be fun, im hoping to drop one in my truck (with a 5sp).

I wouldn't mind your 4.88's! I'm starting to look for some to replace the 4.56's I've got now. Good looking rig, and some gorgeous scenery!

I have been there and those hills would make me nuts in my 3.0. Glad that I rented a car when I drove there. The scenery is amazing and I can't wait to go again this summer.

Nice Runner!
