3vze wiring help needed. Mystery Wire
Hey guys,
I have a little problem. I am working on finishing up my engine swap and I have a wire that for the life of me I can't figure out where it goes. It comes out of the driver fender well harness and seems to have power going to it. I thought it was a ground and grounded it only to blow the alternator fuse. Thanks for the help!

Gentlemen, on the topic of 3VZE connectors. Any chance you know where this connector should go to. Every other connector in the wiring harness is allocated:
Please note that this is the right hand drive version of the 3VZE.

Looks to me like the wire and connector both go to the alt.
Have you got the engine running? if so, is the alternator charging? (battery should measure 13-14.5v with the engine running)

I'm 99.999% sure that's the connector for the knock sensor wire

Thanks to both of you for the opinions. The alternator connections were labelled on tear down and have already been connected correctly, so that one can be ruled out
I think you might be right Mudhippy. From the wiring diagram I got hold of the knock sensor was right there in prime position on the wiring harness and missing from the gap in the intake on the car. Problem now is that the knock sensor connector will still be under the intake manifold. Am currently reading the other threads on the KS before going back in and removing parts. Will let you know how it turns out.

Big thanks to Mudhippy.
Confirmed that it was the knock sensor connector once the inlet manifold was removed. Like most people, will need to replace the connector wire coming from the sensor out under the inlet manifold to the wiring harness connector.
Will have to wait to get one from the toyota dealership this week. Fingers crossed for no Error 52 code once it is back together.
