Hi Everyone,

Just a couple quick questions.

My Head gasket seems to be leaking oil from the front, outside corner of the passenger side. Can anyone tell me if that's an oil port on the very corner of the block?

I checked the compression in all my cylinders and its perfect at 170psi.

If it is an oil port, should I just re-torque the head studs on that side to push down a little harder... or take it all apart and replace the head?

I only need this engine to last me another 25,000km.

if there no oil in the radiator, no coolant in the oil, and the truck runs fine. just drive the thing. thats what id do if you only needed it to last you just a lil bit more

Sure its not your valve cover gaskets? Known for leaking on these engines.

The oil leaks out quicker than I'd like it too. To much to drive with, you can constantly smell the burning oil and its would cover the whole left side of my block.

I'm pretty sure it's not the valve cover gaskets. There's to much oil and I took the covers off today and there's no leakage at all.

The few inches around the seam between the bottom of the head and the top of the block are completely saturated with oil. That's the highest point of the oil, it just runs down from there. The timing belt and both gears are also dry so it's not the cam seal either. All I can come up with is the head gasket has expanded just enough to let oil out of the oil port in the block that directs oil up to the cams and valves.

i would check the valve cover gasket. i know mine leaks fro there and it drips onto the heat sheild on the manifold

cam plugs / cam oil seals as well.......degrease the motor as best as you can and try to trace the leak.....a sprinkle of baby powder should be able to tell you where the leak is originally from as the oil will leave a trail in the powder.....and your truck will smell like and oily baby's arse too.

where the head mates with the tc cover calls for a sealant to be put on both sides, if not done it will leak there

I have moisture coming from the valve cover to the carburetor with no other indication of a blown head gasket. I recently replaced the water pump and applied sealant at the required bolts. If the oil was milky I would suspect the head gasket. I am stumped.

It's just a drainage passage for oil to return to the crankcase though. It's not pressurized. But that doesn't mean it can't be the source of the leak.

Wrong engine, or wrong thread. Depends on how you look at it...either way it's still wrong.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. But if it's moisture coming from the valve cover my first inclination would be the PCV valve. As in it's not working efficiently(or at all). Or maybe it's working just fine. It's job is to evacuate blow-by gasses from the crankcase. Blow-by gasses are partially composed of water vapor.

My head gasket looks to be leaking oil then it pools up in the valley of the block until it over flows and leaks down my bellhousing.

Is this because of a faulty head gasket or possibly improper torque? Was i supposed to use any sealent on any of the the head bolts?

That's an interesting place to have oil leak and pool. Could very well be the head gasket, something like mine did except yours is on the inside.

Could possibly be a cracked block? but I couldn't be 100% sure on that one.

I replaced the gasket and it hasnt lost a drop of oil in 200 miles (Thanks God) . I blame myself, i believe I didnt clean all the crap out of the head bolt holes well enough the first time. i went through two handfulls of Q tips drying the bolt holes out and ran a chaser down each hole twice...
