Just picked up at 94 4x4 4 runner in a trade and its got the blown head gaskets. I've got it all apart and cleaned up pretty like..get the new gaskets from engnbldr.com tomorrow and re-assembly will take place once i get my heads back from machine shop.

Now looking at Gates timing belt kits online, the spring tension kit is about 100$ cheaper than the hydraulic kits go for. And Not to mentnion, the hydraulic tensioner kinda Sucks to take off/install. So I'm wanting to make a cover plate to block the hole in the timing cover where hydraulic tensioner went, and hoping the spring pulleys and spring kit will be a same fit.

Does anyone have info on this being done? Tried doing a search for a few hours now and did lots of reading but throwin it out there looking for some input.
