3VZ Idle and hesitation issue
'90 Yota Pickup 4x4 w/ 3VZ and 5spd behind it. when idling at normal operating temp, it is only 500 RPMs and has a hesitation/miss when reving slightly. Ive played w/ the distributor while it was idling to see if it could be the ignition timing but that did not help the idle speed or hesitation. How do you adjust the idle speed b/c I cannot find how to in my service manual except by adjusting the actual throttle stop? Also, what other problems could there be to cause these symptoms? The truck runs fine when driving, only the idle is an issue. I am familiar w/ 22RE's, 3VZE's are not my specialty. Thanks

I would sugest a tune up, plugs wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter. any one of these things can couse the same or simular issues. All these parts are very inexpensive and pretty easy to replace with some common hand tools. If nothing else at least you will have eliminated a ton of possibilitys for very little effort. Im leaning mor towards ignition becouse with older vehicles spark is weaker at idle, so if yur low on funds i would recomend just doin the cap/rotor and plugs. Factory idle is 800 rpm. GL

Test your throttle position sensor. http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...PositionSensor Same procedure for the 3VZ.
