1uzfe! Not many people have done it around here, requires alot of work.
If you're not up to it, do a 3.4L

They are both great motors. Personally I have decided that the Lexus V8 will hopefully ensure that I never want for power when I'm driving mountain passes. Now if I can just get the time to actually put the thing in...

They are actually about the same amount of work. the wiring issues are the same and there are places to get them both done. the lexus v8 you have to be careful where you mount it in the engien bay. Its an extremely tight fit front to back and leaves very little room for a radiator and fan. You also need bigger that stock radiator and fan to keep it cool. The lexus v8 is probablyt about half the price to buy the engine but the other stuff you need balances the cost. The Lexus v8 is an aluminum block and is lighter that the 3.4

If you want cool and unique, Lexus V8.

If you want an easier install, 3.4.

I looked at both and ended up doing the 3.4 since it was almost drop-in with its simplicity. Very little in the way of fab work and you can re-use a bunch of your stock 3.0 gear with it (radiator, oil pan, etc.) where the 4.0 needs to have a bunch of stuff fabbed (motor mounts, exhaust, etc.)

What are you swapping it into?

The 3.4L is a more straightforward swap - almost everything bolts in to the same holes, just wiring has to be adapted.

The V8 is more work, but the better motor. As noted above, it's actually lighter than the V6 due to the aluminum block. Since the block and the heads are the same material, headgasket issues are practically non-existent. Unfortunately, I don't think anything will bolt in - you'll have to make and locate on the frame motor mounts and have a bellhousing adapter.

... and I spend A LOT of time on here and don't recall seeing a thread like this, so not sure what the "search newb" police are all excited about.

Just what are you trying to say?

Country Boy, you need to learn to use the "search" function and quit asking your redundantly redundant questions that you have obviously not bothered to look for an answer for on your own cause folks will tire of your laziness quickly.

In the bottom right it says "edit." Click that to prevent looking like a fool in the future.

Friendly advice. I gave you the link and even posted the words cause I know you wouldn't bother to search for it.

15. Searching (or a blatant lack of)

While you will not find a nicer, more helpful bunch than the YotaTech membership, anyone can grow frustrated seeing new threads with the same questions over and over.

A few well spent minutes educating yourself so you ask INTELLIGENT and INFORMED questions will gather much more attention from the seasoned members in the know than a lazy attempt to have the members spoon feed you information.

It is ALWAYS better to add on to an existing thread (if the information is pertinent) than to start another with the same information.
This makes it easier for the next person with fewer threads to pour over to gather their information.

More info on how to search can be found in our newbie section.

A word of warning. If you are a chronic "non-searcher" or if you feel the need to mouth off to either the membership or staff for telling you to search, your stay here will be short-lived.
